Christopher
LLoyd CVO is the new President of NADFAS
for the next 5 years. He spent 20 years at the Department of
Western Art of The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
In 1988 he became Keeper of The Queen's
Pictures where he stayed until his retirement in 2005. His principal
areas of expertise are
the Italian Renaissance and French Impressionism.
"The
National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Societies was
launched in
1968 by Patricia Fay with eleven societies and has expanded to over 330
societies in the UK, 10
in Europe, 28
in Australia and
2 in New
Zealand.
With 90,000 members worldwide, NADFAS
works towards promoting and preserving the arts. The
Association's
concerns include voluntary work to maintain historic buildings,
recording
churches and their contents, working towards developing the arts for
the young
and maintaining lecture programmes for members."
NADFAS
Review is
published
quarterly. All members of the local societies receive a copy. Its
contents
include news from the Galleries, Museums, What's On in the art world
and the
latest news and achievements from the Areas and local societies.
