DartingtonLawnSmallDartington Hall proved yet again to be a splendid venue for the KEDFAS Annual Christmas Lunch. Our Chairman welcomed  members and guests.
All enjoyed an excellent lunch which was followed by a piano recital with Robin Brett and Emma Seal at the keyboard of the magnificent Steinway concert grand.
Robin and Emma took the audience for a light-hearted journey that included works by Gabriel Faure and his 'Berceuse', Debussy, Josef Suk, CPE Bach and William Walton with 'PopularSongs' from Edith Sitwell's 'Facade' and  Billy Mayerl, famous for naming many of his compositions after flowers and trees.
Judith Le Grice joined the duo, the recital concluding with  6 hands on a keyboard (!) playing 'I wish you a Merry Christmas' bringing  a fine musical diversion to a close.

Robin Brett  was formerly Head of Music at Kingsbridge Community College. Emma Seal, who gave a great interpretation of 'Claire de Lune'  as well as some fine Bach, spent 5 years at the College and is now at Atlantic College for a further 2 years.
A vote of thanks was proposed by Richard Bunn, Hon Treasurer and Vice Chairman-Elect.

Around Royal Windsor: Palaces, Castles & Historic House

This September Tour proved to be extremely popular with members. On the way to Windsor, members visited Bradley House and after checking in to the Castle Hotel in Windsor, enoyed exclusive access to Windsor Castle and a private guided tour of the State Apartments, this to be followed by dinner at the hotel. The following day was spent at Kew, Kew Palace, The Royal Botanic Gardens and Syon House.

The journey home on the third day was broken by a visit to Stratfield Saye followed by a delightful lunch at the Wellington Arms Hotel at Stratfield Turgis.

Members' Artwork  Our society is fortunate in having a number of gifted artists as members. These include sculptors, painters in all mediums, photographers, embroiderers and weavers, metal and woodworkers.
The arrival of the digital camera has certainly encouraged an interest in photography and there might well be some embryonic Cartier Bressons or Man Rays amongst our membership. If you wish  to submit photographs of examples of your photographic artwork, sculpture, painting, etc., for  display on this website,
please download images   to kedfasinfo@yahoo.co.uk

Viewers are reminded that copyright for these images is held only by the individual artist concerned and NOT BY KEDFAS; it is illegal to copy and reproduce them for any commercial gain without the written permission of the artist.

 Members’ email addresses

There has been an excellent response to an appeal for members to let the Hon Secretary have a note of their email addressess . The cost of mail shots has already been significantly reduced!

I suspect there maybe one or two member email addresses still under wraps, travelling incognito or whatever, but I am ever hopeful that they might eventually see the light of day and find their way to the Hon Sec!

Please send your email addresses to kedfasinfo@yahoo.co.uk

My term as Web Editor has finally come to an end. The site will reappear later in a revised format and overall design. The time has certainly come for some sweeping changes. I have enjoyed the job immensely. My thanks to all members who have made helpful suggestions to me and I certainly am pleased never to have been the recipient of critical notes of a litigious nature!  May you all continue to enjoy the benefits and joys this society brings to all its members. I wish the society well in the future.          Tony Barford,    Retiring Web Editor
