YOUNG ARTS
The Horswell Cup was
originally donated to the society by Mrs
Prunella Dart - a former Chairman of the society, and her husband, Mr
Michael
Dart. They have been members since the earliest days of the society.
The Cup
was awarded to that member winning an annual competition for
entries in
either photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics or
needlework. With
the full agreement of Prunella and Michael, the Cup is now
to be awarded as shown below. This is in lieu of the annual competition
for
KEDFAS members which has now been discontinued. Following discussions with staff members of Kingsbridge Community College, the KEDFAS Committee has decided to award the Horswell Cup to the pupil showing the most improvement in music, art or creative writing during the previous school year. The winner will be adjudged by staff members of the College at the end of the Michaelmas term. The committee has also decided to give a monetary award to the most outstanding pupil in each of the three disciplines - music, art and creative writing. There is urgent need for the appointment of a Young Arts South West Area Representative who can liaise with those SW Societies that have Young Arts Representatives, collecting and collating details of programmes of activities involving arts and the young and passing such details to NADFAS.
