Arts Appreciation for All
The Kingsbridge Estuary Decorative & Fine Arts Society (KEDFAS) is one of over 300 member societies of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS). It is a society which aims to help people learn about, and appreciate our artistic heritage.
We meet for nine lectures a year, held in the Huntsman Suite of the King’s Arms Hotel in Kingsbridge. The lecture programme is compiled annually by the Society Committee from a Directory of over 250 carefully vetted and monitored Lecturers, many of whom are academic leaders in their field, and who cover more than one topic. Additional full-day activities include Study Days where a lecturer takes us through a subject in greater depth, and excursions to local houses and places of artistic interest.
NADFAS arranges training and support for Society Committees and Officers, and a part of your Society subscription is paid to NADFAS to finance this work. (See www.NADFAS.org.uk). Within the overall structure of NADFAS, member societies are grouped into Areas to facilitate discussion and the exchange of ideas among societies with similar issues to contend with, and to enable those responsible for society programmes to better understand the process and hear about the lecturers other Societies have engaged. KEDFAS is one of 21 societies comprising the South-West area, which extends from Somerset to Land’s End (see www.NADFASsouthwestarea.org.uk)
